BROCKHAMPTON – Dirt [Video]

Hailing from San Marcos, Texas (but claiming “the internet” as their true birthplace), BROCKHAMPTON are not your average rap group. Don’t even call them one to begin with: “The All American Boy Band” is how Kevin Abstract, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, Rodney Tenor, and Merlyn Wood describe this one-of-a-kind crew. After winning the VFILES LOUD! competition with their offbeat style and boundless energy, BROCKHAMPTON dropped the “Dirt” single on Fool’s Gold, enthusiastically premiered by Ebro (“Bring that back to the top… I like this!”) on his Beats1 radio show. Now, the maniacally fun “Dirt” gets an equally bugged-out video, directed by Tyler Mitchell and executive produced by VFILES. Taking place at a surreal, slo-mo photo shoot, the “Dirt” video captures BROCKHAMPTON’s camaraderie and next-level appeal IRL.

M-Dot feat. Method Man, Dominique Larue & Katy Gunn – Shine [Video]

Souplusmind Produces & Presents “SHINE”….. Several months ago Boston lyricist M-Dot let loose the 1st official single “Shine” off his long awaited debut album “Ego and the Enemy” (2 part CD release). The track, which evokes raw hip hop balanced with a current-day clean sound immediately was embraced worldwide, accumulating over 100k plays collectively over multiple audio platforms. Now he follows up with visuals to the Method Man (Wu Tang Clan), Dominique Larue & Katy Gunn assisted smash in this aesthetically pleasing, creatively focused animated offering by Serbian based director Slobodan Bokka Medarevic & the StreetHearted Videos team. Over the course of the 4 minute vividly illustrated parable, “Shine” imaginatively depicts a group of young, ‘Independent’ minds fighting through the covert grip of their oppressors in order to once again illuminate society. The video uniquely showcases the constant conflict between good vs. evil, light vs. darkness. Most evident is the cautionary underlying that the ‘underground’ will not remain dormant forever….eventually WE will SHINE through! “Shine” is the 2nd video (1/7 is EMS- Spittin’ Dead) in M-Dot/Own Lane Music’s 4th Quarter onslaught. “Ego and the Enemy” (Disc 1: due out early 2016) will feature production by Hi-Tek, Marley Marl, Buckwild, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, !llmind, Da Beatminerz, 7L, Snowgoons and MANY more….

On The Come Up: Allan Kingdom [Video]

Allan Kingdom is On The Come Up. Allan Kingdom is a name you should get to know, before it becomes a ‘hopping on the bandwagon’ thing. If you do recognize his name, it’s likely because he was featured alongside Kanye West (and Theophilus London) on the song “All Day,” but there’s more to this Canadian-born rapper than that one feature. For our new episode of On The Come Up, the St. Paul, MN native discusses his origins, from growing up in Winnipeg to Wisconsin to, finally, Minnesota, and how he got into rapping. “When I decided that music was exactly what I wanted to do forever, I was extremely young…I just always knew that music was what I was supposed to be doing. I got into rap at pre-teen age, like 12 or 13,” he tells us before listing some of his influences. For the newcomers, the rapper also runs down some of the projects currently available on his Soundcloud, and connecting with Kanye on “All Day.” “It came together just from me creating and putting out stuff, and getting to the right people, and connecting with other creatives I look up to, such as Plain Pat, such as Virgil Abloh,” Allan said of his Kanye collaboration. “And reaching out to people, a lot of hard work. The feeling of it, it felt like I graduated.” He also teases that he has a new project in the works/on the way, but he won’t reveal much more than that. Stay tuned.
