Thanks to a diligent follower of KN (shouts to Trevor), I was informed he was in LA for the day while on tour with PRhyme. Due to horrendous traffic and time constraints, we couldn’t pull off a conversation for the podcast (forgot to even snap a picture of him we were in such a hurry), but we’ll get one in next time he’s in town. For the time being enjoy this effortless rendition of “Mule Juice”.

Read moreCourtesy of Pe$o, VladTV offers this exclusive with Gorilla Zoe in which he speaks on how he fell into the rap game, the influence hip hop has on pop culture, his tatts and more. Gorilla Zoe begins by explaining how his career as a rapper began, saying, “As crazy as it sounds, I didn’t wake up one day and was like ‘You know what, I want to be a rapper.’” The “Hood Figga” rapper goes on to share that he never “studied” the requirements to become a “dope artist.” He then confides how he started making music. Next, the discussion demonstrates Zoe’s perception of the business behind Hip-Hop. Relying upon his wisdom built from his endeavors in retail allows the “Juice Box” rapper to best capitalize his approach to Hip-Hop. Understanding the importance of erecting a “grass-roots” following, Gorilla Zoe attests that that’s what will help a rapper sustain longevity within the game. Finally, the conversation delves into Hip-Hop’s global impact on pop culture, which Zoe believes is huge. Check out the full clip to also see what Gorilla Zoe has to say about being recognized overseas, the meaning behind his tatts, and his upcoming project, ‘Red Cup.’

Read moreThe month of March kicked off with some big news for a little-known Chicago rapper, Hollywood Holt. The rapper has been bubbling underneath the surface for a minute, however, he quickly elevated in the rap stratosphere with the announcement that he signed with G.O.O.D. Music. Now, it’s time to play catch up. Holt sat down with us during SXSW, and gave us the scoop on his style and sound for all the newbs. He also explained how his connection with Kanye turned into a record deal. Consider this your formal introduction to Holt. “I’ve known Kanye, not as really tight friends or nothing, but we’ve known Kanye and the whole team for years…I was breakdancing in the crowd at his listening party for Graduation,” Holt explained. “I’ve never tried to jump under the G.O.O.D. umbrella beforehand, it was always just like we’re doing our thing. I’ve always been a very self-sufficient artist, me and my cousin Mano, we kinda just built ourselves and Kanye took notice. The first video I ever shot, Kanye posted it on his blog back in the day.” Holt went on to explain how a chance encounter with Kanye in NYC led to a working relationship, and how Ye finagled Holt’s “Back to Black” Amy Winehouse cover for “The Great Gatsby” film. “I was in New York with the Madden brothers, and we were just hanging out, apparently at some really cool bar club that no one can get into, I don’t know, I found out
