Read moreAugust Alsina is currently bathing in the success of his debut album Testimony, as he continues to push certain records off the album. This summer we heard the big remix to his single “No Love” with Nicki Minaj, which the two have already shot a music video. Our host Baker caught up with August while he was on the road, and spoke to him about what it was like to work with Nicki on the record. The r’n’b singer says that she’s a very hands-on collaborator. “Nicki is someone I really consider a friend in the game, she’s a cool person, I fuck with her the long way,” August tells us. “For the record I really thought a female perspective would be cool, and she came like so Nicki-ish, and so left. She really bodied it. It’s cool because she was very deeply involved in the whole thing as far as when she heard the record and when she got on, and she was like, ‘man we gotta shoot the video, we gotta do this, and the video should look like this.’ And she was always tellin’ me, man, ‘Aug this is my favorite song.’ We finally got the final edit back from the video, and it was fun.” August goes on to detail how someone could lose his trust (which he says happens easily), and speaks on his relationship status (single).

The “James Brown of Hip-Hop” caught up with STASHED shortly before hitting the main stage in the “City Of Brotherly Love” to talk with us about just how he went about taking part in the festival. Moreover, he spoke about being able to connect to a younger generation by the quality of his live show and what to expect when you see him on stage. Lastly, he explained to us about some of the artists that he enjoys watching in 2014. Check out this interview with the Hip-Hop legend up top.

Read moreDirector’s Note – “As a multi-media artist coming from a back ground in performance and video art, the first time I heard L’Orange’s “Need You” I was struck with the songs dichotomy of beauty and melancholy.I wanted to create a world, a universe where this song could live and breathe to reveal and tease out the tension of these themes . The gorgeous ebbs and flows of the song partnered with the rhymes of Blu push the boundaries for the possibilities for imagery. With the amazing space of Murphy’s Ranch practically in my back yard I was inspired to develop a post apocalyptic Adam and Eve story that again would play off of the themes of beauty and melancholy. Creating a more cinematic and filmic treatment allowed for collaboration with fellow artists to explore this post apocalyptic world where choosing life may mean choosing death.” – EmaLee Arroyo
