The “Lit” rapper said that Fif’s presence was known around the neighborhood before “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” came out, but says the debut album “swept” the borough. Bas also speaks about going to a mixtape spot on 164th and getting exclusive G-unit albums, which was a big deal before the Internet came into play. Speaking about his own rap career, Bas says that it all started on his 23rd birthday. He explains that he had DJ’d his own birthday party, and when he got back to his apartment he and his friend recorded over Kanye’s “Breathe In, Breathe Out.” After playing it for friends, Bas said he “caught a bug” and made about 14 records that started off his career.
