Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, now in theaters and opening wide on Christmas Day, follows Nelson Mandela’s journey from his rural childhood, through his 27-year incarceration, to his election as president of South Africa. With Golden Globe nominated Idris Elba in the title role, we get a fresh and fascinating look at a man whose life was almost impossibly rich in experience and accomplishment. Now that Nelson Mandela has passed away, we are all reminded just how much he truly changed the world. Paying homage to Mandela, and celebrating the release of the new film, rap legend Rakim has crafted an original track. We built a sweepstakes around the project, offering our audience the chance to contribute lyrics to the song. Rakim took those lyrics, blended them with his own feelings on Mandela and his reaction to Long Walk to Freedom, and came up with an absolutely one-of-a-kind musical experience. via Complex
