As we enter into Dilla Month and our final month of Bling47 Breaks, I’d like to thank those who have supported us from day one. Your positive feedback has been music to my ears on those late nights of editing and animating this series. Some of those days were not so eazy but here we are one year later. I started this series to shed some light on the man known as James “Dilla” Yancey. I believe that goal was achieved. We considered continuing this series as a paid subscription to cover some of the many hours put into each episode. To be honest, there is no amount that can be payed for this service. I’ve decided to bring it to an end and focus on my new label DIRT TECH RECK for the remainder of the year. We hope you’ll stay tuned. Sick rhymes, rugged beat… Perfect combo. Chief party rocker Rich Medina covers this one and briefly touches on his search for that crazy drum loop. Take it away Rich. Bling47 takes you on a journey into samples used by J Dilla. Filmed, edited and animated and directed by Waajeed. As we slowly start to bring Bling47 Breaks to a close in Febuary, it was one of my biggest goals to get J Rocc of the World Famous Beat Junkies on this series. Not only because J is one of the best DJ’s in the world but because of his close friendship with Dilla during the final years of his life. Last weekend I managed to catchup with him in Los Angeles to talk Dilla and records. I had just finished packing my equipment and he pulled this one. I HAD TO FILM IT. This one is for the true Dilla heads. The will be more J Rocc to come. I Promise. Enjoy! – Jeedo Previously: Bling47 Breaks Dilla Edition: House Shoes – The Light Remix [Video]

Bling47 Breaks Dilla Edition: House Shoes – Dooinit [Video]

Bling47 Breaks takes you on a journey into samples used by J Dilla. Filmed, edited and animated and directed by Waajeed. There are many claims about Dilla. Some say he was one of the greatest producers ever. In the case of this episode of Bling47 Breaks these claims may hold to be true. Common’s, “Dooinit” was one of the best tracks on his 1998 release Like Water For Chocolate. As explained by @Houseshoes none other than Dilla could have chopped this break so greatly. Dilla told me himself that he used Rick James, “Give It To Me Baby” but it never made sense until Shoes showed me how he did it. FUCKING AMAZING!. You can totally hear Pete Rocks influence on his sparse use of the piano stabs until the chorus. We called him Dilla Rock on at this time. HAHA. Much thanks to Shoes for all his insight this month. It was a long time coming but we managed to get you up here. Over this past year I watched those who you have put before yourself curse your name. Regardless of the nay sayers and blatant smear campaigns against you, your contributions to Dilla, Slum, myself and Detroit are recognized and appreciated at Bling47. SALUTE. Talk is cheap, please go purchase #LETITGO and follow Houseshoes on Twitter and Facebook. Enjoy. – Jeedo Previously: Bling47 Breaks Dilla Edition: House Shoes – Ruff Draft Intro [Video]
