Ran Reed feat. U.G. – The Crew [Audio]

With his much-anticipated compilation LP, ‘Still Commanding Respect,’ set to drop at the top of 2017, Ran Reed delivers another punishing single, “The Crew,” featuring a scorching guest verse from U.G., with head-nodding production supplied by Nick Wiz. As fans of Reed already know, he and Wiz go way back—peep their Respect The Architect collaboration—so it’s only fitting they’ve teamed up again here In addition to infusing elements of Das EFX’s classic cut, “Real Hip-Hop,” the true highpoint lies in the chemistry between Reed and his guest feature, U.G. of the Cella Dwellas (who recently dropped his own album, Portals). In addition to dropping their own verses, the two attack the third verse on some bad-guy, tag-team sh*t like a modern-day Harlem Heat (waddup, Booker T?). Once you’re done listening to “The Crew,” be sure to peep Ran’s previous drop, “Gun Boy Interlude” featuring M.O.P. Other features on the album include Bumpy Knuckles, Kool G Rap, Sadat X, D.V. Alias Khryst, Shabaam Sahdeeq, DJ Modesty, LoVel, and more. “The Crew” can now be streamed, and is available as the first instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for ‘Still Commanding Respect.’ The 20 tack LP is due out January 13th through Reed’s RRM Consulting imprint.

U.G. (of Cella Dwellas) – The Mystic [Audio]

After years of work and several delays, Brooklyn rapper U.G. (of the acclaimed duo, Cella Dwellas) is ready to drop his debut solo album, ‘Portals.’ But before the full project arrives, he’s delivered a mission statement of sorts with the lead single, “The Mystic” which will please longtime fans, and introduce newcomers to one of rap’s most unique voices. U.G.’s distinct approach to his artform is heard almost immediately, as the beat supplied by IDE creeps and looms beneath his vocals. The BK spitter attacks it with precision and prowess like only he can: “Listen/ I bang my chest like a bongo/ Congo/ Push rocks like Rondo/ Arms throw/ Combos/ F*ck up your whole ensemble.” And when he gets to the hook to proclaim, “My sh*t sound like nothin’ else you ever heard,” it’s pretty much impossible to disagree. Given that it’s been a minute since we’ve heard from the Cella Dwellas, it’s safe to say that ‘Portals’ is not just long overdue, but also one of the more anticipated projects of the year. We know you’ll agree once you get to hear it yourself when it drops in October. “The Mystic” is now available for stream, and can be downloaded off the iTunes pre-order link for Portals, as the project’s debut instant-grat track. ‘Portals,’ which includes guest features from the likes of Celph Titled, Mista Sinista, Life Long, Necro and more, hits all major digital retailers and streaming outlets on October 21, via Creative Juices Music.
