Memphis Bleek: “I Don’t Like Comparing Jay & Biggie” [Video]

Memphis Bleek spoke about Jay Z and Biggie’s relationship in the music industry and also knowing each other prior to the fame in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV. Bleek recalled Jay and Biggie competing with one another lyrically on “Brooklyn’s Finest,” and went on to compliment Biggie for his top-notch wordplay skills. Bleek isn’t really fond of people trying to compare the two MCs because Biggie didn’t have the time to develop a body of work that can compare to Jay Z’s catalog. He also stated that Jay and Biggie knew each other prior to the fame and fortune because they were both from Brooklyn and lived similar.

Memphis Bleek Talks 2Pac Vs. Biggie [Video]

Memphis Bleek shares his thoughts on the much debated topic of Tupac vs Biggie, claiming that there’s not enough work from Biggie to compare the two. He adds that Pac had four albums to Biggie’s two before their untimely deaths, which he believes isn’t enough to make a call on the debate. When asked about Tupac’s universal message, Memphis Bleek agrees that he spoke for the more disenfranchised people, where Biggie didn’t really reach out to that group, using “Brenda’s Got a Baby” as an example.

Memphis Bleek Says He Started Nas/Jay-Z Beef [Video]

) Memphis Bleek opens up about Jay Z and Nas’ beef, which actually began after Nas released a diss at Memphis Bleek on a DJ Clue mixtape. Bleek then followed up with his hit “Mind Right,” which spurred another response from the Queensbridge rapper, who released a freestyle, naming off Jay Z, Beanie Sigel, and other Roc-A-Fella rappers. When asked what Nas specifically said about him, Bleek reveals that “he didn’t say nothing about me.” He also explains why he liked Jay Z’s “Takeover” better than Nas’ “Ether,” saying that most of what is said on the album is lies. He ends the conversation by saying that Jay’s track “was the hardest record in hip hop.”
