MC Whiteowl & FATCATHAYZE 156 feat. L.I.F.E. Long – Keep Calm [Video]

For our first sampling from MC Whiteowl and producer FATCATHAYZE 156’s forthcoming EP, “Fill in the Blanks”, the frequent collaborators connect with Brooklyn’s L.I.F.E. Long for a funky, wordplay-laden new single, “Keep Calm”. And in the track’s newly released visuals filmed by Emzkey 1 for Sublime Crown Television, the two rappers (Whiteowl and Long) head down to a local watering hole to toast to their success. But they’re not done talking their sh*t just yet—and with good reason. The New York City spitters sling their quotable-filled verses armed with pints and plenty of bravado, particularly Whiteowl whose battle-rap bars include references to everything from Odell Beckham Jr. to the Zika virus. His Brooklyn-hailing guest is a bit more down to earth as he deftly explores topics include government surveillance and police brutality. It’s the dichotomy between not only the lyrical content but their flows that make Whiteowl and Long such a strong one-two punch. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’re trading verses over some next-level, mean-mugging production from FATCATHAYZE. Check out the visuals, and head over to HYPEDDIT for the free .mp3 download (refer to link above). Stay tuned for more song leaks taken from the duo’s forthcoming collaborative effort!

MC Whiteowl – Pickle Juice [Video]

Hit the streets of New York City with one of Hip-Hop’s most intriguing and animated new voices, MC Whiteowl, who today delivers his visuals for “Pickle Juice.” Like “One Chance” before it, this video is also directed by Olise Forel for Moving Silence. And while the preceding visuals took Whiteowl through the wilderness and showed off his eccentric side, “Pickle Juice” is much more grounded and realistic. The video allows the viewer to spend the evening with the rapper, who travels through various parts of New York, chills with his crew, and rocks a live show. And it’s this intimate time spent with Whiteowl that provides even more insight into what makes him tick, which if you haven’t figured it out yet…is Hip-Hop. This is an artist who proudly professes his love for the culture, and his passion is contagious. In addition to being his latest video, “Pickle Juice” is also the latest single we’re hearing from Whiteowl’s forthcoming project, Born Yesterday. The album is set to feature production from DJ Fred Ones, FatCat Hayze, Statik Selektah (“One Chance”), and Jakk Wonders, who provides the slapping boom-bap instrumental on “Pickle Juice.” Check out the visuals, and head over to HYPEDDIT for the free .mp3 download. Stay tuned for more song leaks and visuals taken from ‘Born Yesterday,’ which is set to drop this fall!

MC Whiteowl – One Chance [Video]

Eccentric and passionate New York native MC Whiteowl portrays the hunger of a rising artist in his literally out-there new video for “One Chance,” produced by the ubiquitous Statik Selektah. Given the setting and what Owl goes through to find relief and sustenance, the clip’s protagonist resembles a hybrid of Tom Hanks’ ‘Castaway’ character and a down-on-his-luck John Rambo. As in, dude’s clearly been hitting the weights, but has also lost his mind a bit during his time alone in the woods, where he fashions himself a spear to, yes, catch his dinner. It’s all a visual metaphor for how Owl felt when he was recording “One Chance,” which he sums up in its hook when spitting: “If you had, one chance to kill a Statik track/ Would you spit heat on the beat or would you just fall flat?” He obviously put his all into everything associated with the track, from its borderline-scatterbrain bars to the video’s overall narrative (which, by the way, has a happy ending). Check out the visuals, which are directed by Olise Forel for Moving Silence (Sadat X, Grand Daddy I.U.), and be sure to support the single, which is now available for purchase and download through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms via Straight Dope Records.
