Gabriel Garzón-Montano – The Jardín Sessions @ Waterfront Studios [Video]

“My friend Santiago Carrasquilla filmed some of the sessions for Jardín. I’m thankful we were able to make this piece about how the record was made. Its the same spot I recorded the EP. I did both records with my mentor Henry Hirsch. He hates ProTools and computers and integrating my beats into the record was hilarious cause he always talked shit. Anyways here’s us making a record the way they used to be made and sometimes still are. Hit me if you have questions… please! Thank you Henry, Santi, Stones Throw and Art Camp.” – Gabriel Garzón-Montano

Creating a bridge between Colombians living in NYC and Colombians living in Palenque was beautiful.” – Gabriel Garzón-Montano “I went to elementary school with a guy named Guillermo Camacho in Bogotá. I left Colombia at the age of 10 and lost touch with Guillermo until I discovered his work 15 years later. He had become an amazing photographer and social activist working on many powerful and meaningful projects in Colombia. I fell in love with his photographs of San Basilio de Palenque, a small town in the northern part of Colombia known for its musical
