Fluent – Magnolia Freestyle [Audio]

After dropping the fantastic “Carolinafornia Nightmare” album in late 2016, Los Angeles-based rapper Fluent returns with a slick-talkin’ freestyle over Playboi Carti’s addictive “Magnolia” single. The playful, earworm of a beat is from Atlanta’s Pi’erre Bourne and was featured on Carti’s self-titled debut album released this past April, and Fluent does his damn thing over the instrumental to make it his own. And he does so with a swagger all his own, spitting a smooth flow for nearly two minutes straight and shouting out everyone he’s rocked with over the years (from Action Bronson to SpaceGhostPurrp). More than a shout-out joint, Flu’s “Magnolia” is also an opportunity to talk some sh*t and flaunt everything he’s earned during his time in the game. This includes plenty of Arthur George socks, a laundry basket filled with Louis Vuitton, more than a few bottles of Hennessey, and a selection of droptops—not to all be enjoyed at the same time, of course. Flu’s take on “Magnolia” is also serves as a strong reminder to check out last year’s “Carolinafornia Nightmare”, which includes a number of fire tracks like “Make It” (featuring Blu) and “Getting Paid” (featuring Yung L.A.). The 12 track LP is available via Supreme Regime (via EMPIRE) through all digital retailers and streaming services.

Fluent – Now You Know [Video]

Los Angeles-by-way-of-North Carolina rapper Fluent spits some serious game to a lady who’s caught his attention in his new video for “Now You Know”, a bravado-laced banger off his “Carolinafornia Nightmare” album. With the team at VisionTwentyFilms behind the lens, Flu makes his way across town in his latest set of visuals to not only get his love interest’s attention, but to also make sure the world hears about it. That message is really at the core of “Now You Know”, one of many highlights from his late 2016 full-length. “Now You Know” is produced by D.R.U.G.S., who layers the instrumental with nostalgic guitar lines and slapping drums. It’s the perfect combination for Flu to do his thing, which clearly works in his favor if the video’s outcome (and the lady’s affection) are any indication. Check out the visuals now for “Now You Know”, and head over to the digital retailer or streaming platform of your choice to support his “Carolinafornia Nightmare” LP, which includes guest features by the likes of Blu, Yung L.A., Lantana, and more!

Fluent – Carolinafornia Nightmare [Album Stream]

When Fluent was working on his sixth album, ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare,’ his goal was to push himself creatively and convey what it was like moving from North Carolina to Los Angeles. And it would be an understatement to say the end result accomplishes what he set out to do. This is Flu’s most fully realized project to date, and it also proves that dude is indeed a problem—or a nightmare, as it were. “With this tape, I delved into different areas of my skill set to show my audience what I”m fully capable of when it comes to the art of songwriting,” he says, adding that he wrote or sang most of the hooks on ‘CN.’ That’s a big part of why tracks like “The Bed” and “Rain” (feat. Lantana) are so successful. They have the potential to garner the emcees more mainstream attention while also staying true to his ability to straight-up spit. His pure talents as a rapper are perhaps most apparent on “Wave,” his favorite track on the album. “It reminds me of where I came from originally, and musically with that bar-for-bar braggadocio and punchline flow,” he says of the banger produced by North Carolina beatsmith, and Dr. Dre collaborator, D.R.U.G.S. Flu also loves “Wave” because so many people want to get hot (or “ride the wave”) without putting in the necessary work. “If you want it, you better work for it,” he adds. The album’s other highlights further demonstrate Flu’s versatility as an artist. That goes

Fluent feat. Colby O’Donis – The Bed [Audio]

As we get closer to the release to Fluent’s latest full length effort, ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare,’ the Los Angeles-based rapper takes his rhymes (and ladyfriend) between the sheets on the super-catchy new single, “The Bed,” featuring Colby O’Donis. The radio and club-friendly joint finds Flu once again linking with New York producer J. Cardim, who laced the preceding single “Make It,” featuring Blu. While that track also had a serious low-end, “The Bed” is a straight-up banger, built on huge synthesizers and drums, making for strong crossover appeal for the bi-coastal emcee. Not only that, but the track features one of the catchiest hooks on the entire album from a cat who’s been lacing hits for years. That’s the Queens, N.Y. singer/songwriter, Colby O’Donis, who broke through in 2008 with a feature on Lady Gaga’s first hit single, “Just Dance.” As you might imagine, though, his vocals are a bit more suggestive this time around, because “The Bed” doesn’t hold back with its sex-positive message. “The Bed” can now be streamed, and is available as the 3rd instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for Carolinafornia Nightmare. The 12 track LP which boasts features and production from the likes of Blu, Yung LA, TwanBeatMaker, D.R.U.G.S., and of course, Colby O’Donis and J. Cardim, drops Nov. 11 through Fluent’s Supreme Regime imprint, via EMPIRE Distribution.

Fluent feat. Blu – Make It [Audio]

For the second single off his upcoming ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare’ LP, Fluent teams up with LA’s Blu on “Make It,” an anthem for anyone who’s ever chased their dreams and worked to make them a reality. Both Cali-residing rappers sound great together over New York producer J. Cardim’s atmospheric instrumental. And it’s a fitting backdrop for both artists to wax poetic about simply wanting to be the best at their crafts. “I got big dreams that are this long,” Blu spits in his opening verse before making a slick Manute Bol reference. And Flu follows it up with his own knowledge on the hook, “Grind and rhymin’ all my life, I’m just really want to know what’s next.” As Fluent’s ambition propels him forward, he understands that the grind is never easy and it never stops. The thing is, it’s the result of that grind—like the music that you’ll find in ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare’—that makes the hard work worth it. “Make It” can now be streamed, and is available as the 2nd instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for Carolinafornia Nightmare. The 12 track LP which boasts features and production from the likes of Colby O’Donis, Lantana, Yung LA, J. Cardim, D.R.U.G.S., and of course Blu, drops Nov. 11 through Fluent’s Supreme Regime imprint, via EMPIRE Distribution.

Fluent – Now You Know [Audio]

After dropping “Getting Paid” with Yung L.A. last fall, Los Angeles-based rapper Fluent returns with a brand-new banger, “Now You Know.” The track stems from his hotly anticipated new project, ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare,’ which he’s been crafting over the past year. Almost immediately, it’s clear that “Now You Know” is one of the rising emcee’s toughest tracks to date. Of course, partial credit goes to producer D.R.U.G.S., who like Fluent, hails from North Carolina but travels the country to put in work. If that name looks familiar, chances are you’ve bumped his beat tapes, other placements, or, you know, his massive production used for the King Mez, Kendrick Lamar, and Marsha Ambrosias featured “Parkside/Gone” off Dr. Dre’s, Compton. And just as the Grammy nominated producer did his thing on “Parkside/Gone,” he and Fluent are a collaborative force on “Now You Know.” It’d be enough that the rapper kicks clever references to everything from model Bella Hadid to upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Doctor Strange. But fluent also flirts with lyrical interplay with the track’s sample, allowing the looping and reverberating “beat it” to slip into his rhymes (“They put a case on me, I’m able to [beat it],” and other quotables). “Now You Know” is available now for streaming and download on all major digital retailers and streaming services. Be on the lookout for ‘Carolinafornia Nightmare,’ set to drop this summer!

Fluent feat. Action Bronson – Medallion [Stream]

From Run DMC’s Dookie ropes to Kanye West’s Horus piece, chains have always been essential part of Hip-Hop culture. But while anyone can rock some gold around their neck and think they’re as fly as Eric B and Rakim, medallions are only worthy of a chosen few. Over this Rocky-esque “Gonna Fly Now” beat from J. Cardim, “Medallion” has Fluent revealing the inner-workings of his hustler’s ambition from a hard working youth, to his surreal, lavish lifestyle. Coupled with a hook from Action Bronson, the track is an ode for those who are moving fast from the bottom to the top, a mentality that is frequently showcased on Fluent’s upcoming LP, Supreme Victory, which is produced entirely by J.
