Coolio: “WC & I Were First West Coast MC’s Not To Be Booed In NYC” [Video]

Coolio sat down with VladTV recently and spoke on his relationship with fellow West coast spitter WC, saying he was brought into his group, Low Profile, as a back-up for WC alongside DJ Aladdin. Coolio claims they were the first Hip-Hop group not to be booed off stage in NYC, but unfortunately were swindled by Aladdin, who embezzled the group’s money. After that, WC left and they formed the group Maad Circle, and were eventually signed to Priority Records. Down the line, Ice Cube took members of Maad Circle on tour, leaving behind Coolio when he financially needed the opportunity the most. He says he understands WC touring with Cube, but would have moved differently himself. Check out the footage above.

Coolio: “Iggy Azalea Is Not That Skilled” [Video]

Coolio sat down for a conversation with VladTV where he shared his thoughts on white rappers. He started off questioning how Iggy Azalea was able to lock down the #1 and #2 spot on the Billboard charts simultaneously, as she, in his opinion doesn’t have skills as an MC. He does believe she’ll be popular for a while simply because she’s white, however. He also argues that part of the reason white rappers in general are doing so well is because many young black rappers don’t make it a point to prove themselves lyrically, while most white boys come in the game with skills.

Coolio: “I Went Platinum From West Coast w/o Dr. Dre [Video]

Coolio sat down with VladTV for an exclusive interview, where he shared his thoughts on white rappers and Lord Jamar’s comments about them being guests in the house of Hip-Hop. He says that he doesn’t agree with the Brand Nubian rapper’s comments, because he believes that if you have talent, color shouldn’t matter. He then speaks about how he forged his own career, and states that he believes that he’s the only West Coast rapper from the hood that went platinum without the help of Ice Cube or Dr. Dre. Coolio adds that he has nothing but love for Dr. Dre, but thinks that he’s “greedy.” The conversation closes with the Compton rapper remarking that he thinks white rappers are taking over the game right now, and he claims that “n****s don’t buy records.” Do you agree with Coolio’s comments?
