A-Villa feat. Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, & Willie The Kid – Live From The Villa [Stream]

Taken from A-Villa’s #CarryOnTradition project, which drops 11/4 via Closed Sessions “Live From The Villa” is just a hard rap record equipped with ill rhymes and slick wordplay on one of the darkest beats I’ve made. I used to play this beat during producer competitions and it always got the heads nodding crazy in the crowd. The meaning behind the song title is self-explanatory…it’s just me serving the people that live, uncut, ruff, rugged, and raw Hip Hop. And the three artists embrace that same quality in their own music. Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, and Willie The Kid have released songs together before and have always proven to be a deadly combination on any track. And “Live From The Villa” is no different…as their chemistry is evident, with each of their verses flowing into the next. And although a lot of these type of collab songs get made thru email, I’m proud to say that this was not one those. I was “live & direct” in the studio with each of them and we’ve recorded a handful of songs, including this one. And beyond their talent as incredible artists, all three are the most humble and down to earth people I’ve met in music. No Hollywood act, they always show love, they answer my calls or texts, and they’re always down to make more music with me. You don’t always get that from some of your favorite rappers. And I hope “Live From The Villa” is just one of many

A-Villa feat. Big K.R.I.T., Termanology & Inspectah Deck – The Colosseum [Stream]

“The Colosseum” is the ultimate battle arena. And as a song, it represents the battle element of emceeing, with my blaring string & horn driven beat providing the battleground for Big K.R.I.T., Termanology, and Inspectah Deck to showcase their lyrical abilities. It also pays homage to some of the great lyrical emcees that paved the way, such as Big Pun, Big Daddy Kane, The D.O.C, and others… who you hear vocally on the hook. Sonically, I was inspired by DJ Premier & RZA and you can hear that from the intro, to the scratching, and the Kung Fu movie snippet at the end. Big K.R.I.T. sets the track off lovely with his southern drawl and precise wordplay. I met K.R.I.T. at a meet & greet before a show he had in Chicago. I introduced myself, told him about my project, and gave him a beat CD. The next day, I got an email with his verse over this particular beat, which I never would’ve thought K.R.I.T. would pick. But it shows his versatility as an artist and his ability to stand out on any type of record. I then sent it to Termanology, who I’m a fan of and knew he would kill it. But I didn’t anticipate him laying down one of my favorite verses on the album. Then with Inspectah Deck, I had sent him a different beat and asked for that “Triumph” & “Above The Clouds” type of feel, which he definitely delivered on and made it
