Anderson .Paak & Cordae – A Good Day [Video]

Anderson .Paak and Cordae play rival brothers in Dave Meyers’ Friday-inspired video for “A Good Day,” from their upcoming album Heavy Is The Crown.

Anderson .Paak and Cordae turn a neighborhood crush into a sibling rivalry in “A Good Day,” with neither brother looking particularly cool by the time it’s over. Directed by Dave Meyers, the Friday-inspired video stars Jennifer Freeman as the woman at the center of their increasingly ridiculous attempts to impress her. Binoculars, a chalk portrait, and a disastrous encounter with a passing pickup truck turn the courtship into slapstick, giving both rappers plenty of room to play the fool.

That comic rapport gives their upcoming joint album, Heavy Is The Crown, a fitting introduction. Built around Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day,” the single draws on the same affection for older sounds that ran through “Summer Drop.” Here, the nostalgia extends into the storytelling: front porches, neighborhood gossip, and romantic misadventures become the setting for a comedy built around the pair’s personalities. Their first full-length collaboration is due October 23.
