Yeat – Cocoon [EP]

Yeat is back at it with Cocoon, a seven-song EP that grew from a tour-made five-song pack and features Drake on “Miss My Dawg.”

Six months after going wide on ADL, Yeat moves in the opposite direction with Cocoon. What began as a five-song pack made while he was on tour grew to seven before release, but the finished EP still keeps its ideas tightly contained, with songs turning over quickly rather than stretching them across another full-length frame.

That smaller scale gives the production details more room to register. “In2That” keeps breaking its beat into open space around Yeat’s clipped cadence, while “Tënnis” pushes his voice through pronounced pitch shifts as the writing moves through a relationship that keeps reversing direction. TRGC appears in the production credits on both “Luh Birk” and the title track, giving two of the project’s shortest cuts a shared production thread.

Drake is the only guest, joining Yeat on “Miss My Dawg” after the collaboration was previewed through FOMO earlier this week. Just as notable is what Cocoon leaves out: the September single “On Nothing” does not appear here. Instead of wrapping an existing rollout into an EP, Yeat presents Cocoon as its own compact batch, built and reshaped on the road.
