Ferg – Cycle [Audio]
Ferg turns his cycling obsession into “Cycle,” the first single from his upcoming Harlem-inspired workout and skate album, Uptown Baby.
Ferg is turning his current workout obsession into the blueprint for his next album. “Cycle” runs on an upbeat, funky pulse with an ’80s tint, while Ferg folds his newfound love of spin classes directly into the record, even inviting listeners to meet him at cycle class. The result feels deliberately physical: bright, repetitive, and built around keeping the body moving rather than settling into the heavier attack of much of his recent material.
That idea stretches beyond one song. Ferg says “Cycle” is the first single from his upcoming album Uptown Baby, which he describes as both a workout album and a skate album. The larger inspiration comes from Harlem roller-skating culture and places such as the Rooftop, the historic rink where hip-hop, fashion, DJs, and dancers crossed paths. Ferg connects that lineage to the blend of rap, R&B and new jack swing that informs the direction he is chasing here.
The shift comes after last year’s Flip Phone Shorty – Strictly For Da Streetz Vol. 1, a much rougher and more chaotic record. Ferg says Uptown Baby is about 95 percent complete and is expected in early 2027, making “Cycle” the first clear look at how that next chapter will move.
