Mike D is back in action with Thank You, a restless album shaped by home-studio sessions with his sons, glitch rap, electro-punk, and reflective songwriting.

Mike D’s return with a full-length record is less a legacy statement than a home-studio experiment that kept getting bigger. Made with his sons Skyler and Davis Diamond and a loose circle of collaborators, Thank You turns the first new full-length from a Beastie Boys member since 2011 into permission to stay curious instead of reconstructing the past.

The album’s restless palette is already visible in “Switch Up,” “True Colors,” and “Crypto”: breakbeat pressure, fuzzy psychedelic rock, distorted electronics, and dry, clipped commentary keep colliding. Across 13 songs, Mike D moves between glitch-rap, electro-punk, indie pop, and percussion-heavy detours, with his familiar voice acting as the one constant while the production keeps changing shape.

That freedom gives Thank You its strongest quality—and its roughest edges. The writing is more reflective than nostalgic, circling loss, memory, and the unsettled business of starting again after a life-defining band. Yet the record never settles into a solemn comeback narrative. Its title track closes on gratitude, while the rest preserves the playful, slightly unruly energy of people making music together because it still feels good to do so.
