Dahi brings Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark together on “How To Pray,” accompanied by a monochrome split-screen video directed by Mez.

Mez turns “How To Pray” into a study in correspondence rather than a conventional feature showcase. The monochrome video stars Dahi and Clarisse Biagi inside a vertically divided frame, repeatedly pairing forms that seem unrelated until they are placed beside each other: a guitar neck echoes the body of a snake, while curves, gestures, and silhouettes keep finding their counterpart on the opposite side of the screen.

That visual logic fits a song built around two people learning how differently they were shaped. Kendrick Lamar contrasts violence and silence with a partner raised around love and openness, making the request to be taught how to pray feel less like a grand spiritual declaration than an admission that trust and vulnerability are languages he still has to learn. Amber Mark helps turn that tension into a duet, her voice folding into Kendrick’s rather than simply occupying a separate guest section.

“How To Pray” appears on Dahi’s debut album Black Boy (Alternative), where seemingly separate musical histories are repeatedly pulled into the same space. Dahi’s drums and keyboards sit alongside Danny McKinnon’s guitar and Jonah Stevens’ synth work, with Dahi, Stevens, McKinnon, and Yuli sharing production. Mez carries that same principle into the video: difference is not something to smooth over, but something that can reveal a connection once both sides occupy the same frame.
