CZARFACE have spent years turning comic-book alter egos into part of the music itself, which makes their latest crossover sound both completely absurd and strangely inevitable: Frankie Pulitzer is Tom Hardy, and he is here for an entire album.

CZARFACE Meets Frankie Pulitzer gives the actor his first full-length release under the alias alongside Inspectah Deck, Esoteric, and 7L. Hardy’s rap history predates his film career—he was recording as Tommy No 1 in the late 1990s—and Frankie Pulitzer has already been woven into the CZARFACE universe through several earlier appearances. This album takes what could easily have remained an inside joke or occasional cameo and turns it into a proper collaborative project.

The rollout already established how naturally that setup fits CZARFACE. “Brothers Grimm” put Hardy’s gruff delivery inside the group’s dusty, villain-coded rap world, while “All It Takes Is One Bad Day” pushed the comic-book premise further with a full animated chapter. Across the album, Frankie Pulitzer is treated as another character in that universe rather than a celebrity guest passing through it.

Busta Rhymes, Method Man and El-P join the collision on “Raw Forever,” “Mad Technology” and “Dragon Cannon,” respectively, with Kendra Morris also appearing on “Frankie.” For a group whose catalog already includes full-scale meetings with MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah, making Tom Hardy their next unlikely counterpart somehow feels completely on brand.
