Jaymin – Rollin [Audio]

Jaymin comes through with “Rollin,” produced by Sango and Chase N. Cashe, and taken from his upcoming EP, “Static,” due September 18.

Jaymin turns a question borrowed from Gucci Mane’s “Pillz” into a much less certain proposition on “Rollin.” Instead of treating “is you rollin?” as swagger, he uses it to test whether a relationship still has somewhere to go. The tension comes from leaving that question open: he wants clarity from the other person, but keeps circling the uncertainty rather than resolving it.

That ambiguity also makes the song an effective entry point to Static, Jaymin’s Warner Records EP due September 18. Sango and Chase N. Cashe co-produced “Rollin,” which Jaymin has described as a shift in his sound, but the more revealing change is in perspective. He says the central question is aimed twice—at the partner in the song and at the audience following him into Static. What could have been a simple Gucci Mane callback, therefore, becomes the premise for the next project: love is still the subject, but certainty is no longer guaranteed.
