Busta Rhymes & J Dilla – Dillagence II [Album Stream]

Busta Rhymes finally hits us with the J Dilla-produced Dillagence II, featuring the late D’Angelo and the Hype Williams-directed “This Woman” video.

Busta Rhymes has spent years treating the J Dilla material in his possession as something to be used carefully rather than emptied out at once. Dillagence II finally turns that archive into a full collaborative album, extending the idea behind the DJ Mick Boogie-hosted Dillagence while keeping Busta’s long-running chemistry with Dilla at the center. Dilla entrusted him with hundreds of beats before his death, and Busta has drawn from them selectively ever since.

That makes the two advance records feel less like isolated teasers and more like different demonstrations of the premise. “Spazzz” put Busta back inside Dilla’s shifting pocket, while “Talk Ya Shit” brought Lil Wayne into the exchange. Across the album, the guest list reaches into several generations without changing the basic setup: Busta is working through Dilla’s archive as a collaborator, not presenting it as untouched memorabilia.

The clearest example is “This Woman,” featuring the late D’Angelo. Busta says the song grew from an unfinished Dilla and D’Angelo session recorded more than 20 years ago, material he did not know existed until word of Dillagence II began circulating. D’Angelo’s vocals anchor the hook, and Busta completes a piece the two had already started rather than dropping an old vocal onto an unrelated new record.

A Hype Williams-directed video for “This Woman” arrives with the album. It brings another part of Busta’s history into a song built from an unfinished session between two late artists, giving Dillagence II its sharpest statement of purpose: this is less about opening a vault than deciding which unfinished conversations can still be carried forward.
