Rick Hyde – H.Y.D.E [Album Stream]

H.Y.D.E stands for Heard Yesterday Doesn’t Exist, but Rick Hyde does not treat the phrase as an excuse to forget the past. His latest album is driven by what experience leaves behind: sharper instincts, less patience for false loyalty, and a determination to move without owing anyone control of the outcome.

That outlook runs through a sequence that opens with “No Remorse” and “Root Of All Evil” before confronting “Facades” and “Fake Luv.” Hyde carries most of the record himself, bringing in OneTakeCarter, Keen Streetz, ElCamino, Flames Dot Malik, and DuckMan at carefully chosen points. Production from Myles 0:01, Haas Almahdi, Viere Beats, Ricky Romero, Jahlil Beats, Ry Beats, Buda & Grandz, and Mike Kuz keeps the Buffalo rapper moving between stripped-down reflection and harder declarations of self-worth.

DuckMan joins Hyde on “No Advances,” where independence is measured by what they refused to surrender on the way up. Buda & Grandz and Mike Kuz give the record a slow, heavy pulse while both rappers contrast earned motion with the strings attached to upfront money. The newly released video brings that argument to the foreground and offers a timely entry point into an album that deserved attention earlier this month.
