Sylvan LaCue examines isolation, self-protection, and entitlement on “Blood Thicker,” the second single from his forthcoming album Depths of a Man: A Memoir.

“Blood Thicker” gives Sylvan LaCue’s forthcoming Depths of a Man: A Memoir a second entry point, following “Tears of a Stoic.” Where the first single addressed vulnerability after LaCue’s first chemotherapy session, the new song turns toward the isolation and entitlement he says it helped him recognize.

That self-assessment gives the title a sharper edge. “Blood Thicker” suggests family loyalty on the surface, but LaCue uses the song to examine what happens when self-protection hardens into distance and the expectation that life should follow a certain script.

LaCue released the 2:20 official music video on August 17, less than three weeks before the full project is due. It adds another revealing piece to the memoir framing of the upcoming album. Watch it below.
