Lil Uzi Vert – Maverick “Almost Forever” EP

Lil Uzi Vert marks their 31st birthday with the surprise eight-song Maverick “Almost Forever” EP.

A canceled festival set turned into an unexpected release day for Lil Uzi Vert. With their Lollapalooza appearance called off as storms moved into Chicago, Uzi marked their 31st birthday by dropping Maverick “Almost Forever”, an eight-song surprise EP.

The timing also reaches back through Uzi’s catalog. Maverick “Almost Forever” arrived exactly ten years after The Perfect LUV Tape and almost two years after Eternal Atake 2. The canceled Lollapalooza slot did not keep Uzi away from the festival entirely, either, as they later appeared during Major Lazer’s set.

Among the EP’s eight tracks is “223,” a previously unreleased record from the much-discussed Barter 16 sessions. “Yoko” is directed at Uzi’s girlfriend JT, while “London” closes the project as a bonus track. “Say It Was” also addresses some of the reaction surrounding Eternal Atake 2.

The EP continues the independent chapter Uzi opened late last year with “Relevant,” “Chanel Boy,” and “What You Saying.”
