Inspectah Deck – Dragon’s Breath [Album Stream]

As promised, Inspectah Deck comes through with Dragon’s Breath, a 19-track solo album produced by P.A. Dre and featuring Raekwon, Cappadonna, CZARFACE, Ransom, Skyzoo, Che Noir, and KXNG Crooked.

Seven years after Chamber No. 9, Inspectah Deck returns to the solo format with Dragon’s Breath. The 19-track album pairs the Rebel INS with P.A. Dre, whose production gives the record one consistent backbone while leaving Deck plenty of room to let his writing lead the way.

The two advance records, “Day In The Life” with Baegod and “Shaolin Rebel 2” with Siahlaw, offered two different entrances into the project. The full record widens that circle without losing its center: Raekwon, Cappadonna, Sauce Money, Skyzoo, Eto, Mickey Factz, Ransom, Che Noir, Sa-Roc, and KXNG Crooked are among the guests drawn into Deck’s orbit.

That old Shaolin language has never been a costume for Deck; it is the space where his bar work has always sounded most natural. Dragon’s Breath puts it back in the foreground, then closes with two CZARFACE cuts that reconnect him with 7L and Esoteric. The result feels less like a detour from his long-running work with the group than another sharp extension of it.
