03 Greedo finally unleashes the long-awaited “If I, Pt. 3” with Ty Dolla $ign, continuing a series that began more than a decade ago.

Some songs build their own mythology before they ever reach streaming services. “If I, Pt. 3” has occupied that space for years: the long-awaited third chapter in a sequence 03 Greedo began around a decade ago, with “If I Part 2” arriving in 2017.

Now the Los Angeles rapper finally gives that open thread an official release, bringing Ty Dolla $ign into the fold. Their collaboration does not treat the earlier records as a nostalgic artifact. Instead, it lets a piece of Greedo’s early catalog meet the scope of the artist he has become in the years since.

A decade is long enough for an unreleased song to become a rumor, a request, and an expectation all at once. “If I, Pt. 3” carries that history in its title, then turns it into a present-tense release.
