Meek Mill delivers the official video for “Nightmares To Dreams,” his latest single, which revisits the legacy of “Dreams and Nightmares.”

Meek Mill first introduced “Nightmares To Dreams” as a reversal of the phrase that has followed him for most of his career. The title points straight back to “Dreams and Nightmares,” but the new record is no nostalgia exercise. Meek flips the original’s dramatic architecture, beginning in its darker register before opening the door to a different kind of reflection: the dream is no longer distant, yet the nightmare has not been erased from the story.

Now comes the official clip, which Meek has called the “reality version.” That description fits a song built around the friction between the artist who made his name rapping toward a breakthrough and the one looking back after the fact. Rather than trying to outdo an untouchable rap intro, he lets the comparison sit there, then uses it to measure how much time, pressure, and perspective have accumulated since 2012.

Released independently through DreamChasers, “Nightmares To Dreams” arrives a few months after “600 Racks.” No larger project has been announced so far, but Meek is clearly placing his new run in direct conversation with the record that made the whole world learn his name.
