Slayr’s 2026 XXL Freshman Freestyle [Video]

Slayr changes pace and vows not to sell out during his 2026 XXL Freshman freestyle, released ahead of the upcoming Avant Nova EP.

Slayr strips away the maximalist production behind much of his music for his 2026 XXL Freshman freestyle. With no beat underneath him, the North Philadelphia rapper plays with tempo and spacing, gradually tightening his cadence as the verse unfolds. He also uses the moment to reject the idea of compromising his identity for a wider audience, insisting that success will not turn him into a sellout.

The performance caps an important stretch for Slayr. His breakthrough project Half Blood received an expanded BloodLuxe edition in March, pushing his mix of rage, digicore, electronic music and video-game influences further into view. On July 10, he will follow it with the EP Avant Nova, which includes the Prettifun collaboration “Switch My Swag” and the Underscores-produced opener “Promise.”
