DJ Premier & The Alchemist feat. Evidence – No Explanation [Audio]

DJ Premier and The Alchemist reunite on “No Explanation,” pairing Premier’s production and scratches with verses from The Alchemist and Evidence.

Preemo and Al bring Evidence into their tour-born run of new music with “No Explanation.” Premier handles the production, building the track around hard drums, a tightly wound sample, and the scratches that have remained central to his sound for decades.

The Alchemist opens on the mic before Evidence takes over, giving the record a natural Dilated Peoples connection without turning it into a nostalgia exercise. Both verses stay measured and direct, while Premier leaves enough space between the drums and cuts for every line to register.

“No Explanation” follows May’s “For The Gig,” another collaboration shaped during DJ Premier and The Alchemist’s time on the road. The two tracks will also be paired on an upcoming 12-inch release with their instrumentals, extending a partnership that currently sits somewhere between a tour document and the beginning of something larger. Their next joint appearance takes place at New York’s Webster Hall on July 9.
