MOIO draws from his family’s immigration story on “remember my name,” reflecting on the sacrifices that shaped his life and the responsibility he feels to honor them. Born in Ireland with roots in Nigeria, he traces the song back to his mother’s decision to leave home while pregnant with him and begin a new life abroad.

Written with Sam Finkelstein and produced entirely by MOIO, the record stretches his alternative R&B sound toward rock and pop. Hypnotic guitar lines run through a steadily rising rhythm section, while his controlled vocal gives the song’s mix of gratitude, ambition, and inherited pressure plenty of weight.
