Parallel Thought dig into uneasy abstraction on their new album, The Third Allegory.

The Freehold, New Jersey, production duo shape the record like a sequence of short, tightly edited scenes: warped drums, damaged textures, cold synth residue, and sample fragments that feel more like transmission signals than decoration.

The concept reaches back to Ben Shahn’s The Second Allegory and its Cold War dread, but the record never turns that reference into homework. It moves through pressure, paranoia, and collapse in clipped instrumental pieces, with titles such as “Agitprop,” “Casus Belli,” and “Digital Vision” making the political static hard to miss.

Fatboi Sharif appears on “Parallel Paradox,” “BDSM,” and “Ghettostarlight,” cutting through the album’s otherwise instrumental architecture with his surreal, bruised delivery. Those moments do not break the mood so much as sharpen it, especially on “Ghettostarlight,” which stretches the closing scene into something heavier and more disorienting.

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Parallel Thought, with album art by Chop The Head, The Third Allegory is a self-contained experiment from a duo that has long treated underground rap production as a place for strange design, not just hard drums.
