Lucky Daye reconnects with D’Mile on “Nowhere Fast,” a smooth new single from his upcoming fourth album.

The track reconnects him with longtime collaborator D’Mile, whose production gives Daye room to stretch into a warm, unhurried pocket. There is polish here, but not the sterile kind: the drums move with enough snap to cut through the smoothness, while Daye lets the vocal phrasing breathe around desire, patience, and timing. It feels intimate without getting sleepy, controlled without feeling sealed off.

“Nowhere Fast” also opens Daye’s Warner Records era and serves as the first look at his fourth studio album, currently expected this fall. After Algorithm pushed his sound through live-band soul, funk, rock, and left-field R&B textures, this one pulls him back toward something more direct: a record about slowing down, staying present, and letting the groove carry the message.

The samples add another layer of memory. Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” and Webbie’s “Independent” sit inside the track’s DNA, but Daye and D’Mile reshape those references into something softer and more reflective. “Nowhere Fast” does not chase a dramatic reset.
