Mike D – True Colors [Audio]

Mike D has shared “True Colors,” the latest preview of his upcoming debut solo album Thank You.

The project is due August 28, and after “Switch Up” and “What We Got,” this new track pushes the Beastie Boys co-founder deeper into a loose, genre-blurring zone.

“True Colors” moves with a warped, slightly psychedelic edge, folding hip-hop, alternative rock and left-field pop impulses into something that feels deliberately unpolished in the best way. Mike D sounds relaxed but not checked out, letting the track’s fuzzy bounce and melodic hooks carry the momentum while his unmistakable voice cuts through the haze.

A visualizer for “True Colors” is out now as well, giving the song another piece of the Thank You rollout without turning it into a heavy statement. At this point, the album is shaping up less like a nostalgia play and more like Mike D reconnecting with the restless, playful spirit that made his best work feel alive in the first place.
