Ariana Grande – Hate That I Made You Love Me

Ariana Grande shares “hate that i made you love me,” the first single from her upcoming album petal, produced with Ilya and Max Martin.

Grande keeps the next chapter deliberately close to the skin on “hate that i made you love me,” the first single from her upcoming album, Petal. After the glossy emotional architecture of eternal sunshine, this one feels more stripped back in its tension: soft on the surface, but built around a sharper kind of self-awareness.

The title already carries the twist. Grande is not simply singing from the wounded side of attachment; she is looking at the mess left by being desired, projected onto, and misunderstood. Her vocal stays controlled rather than theatrical, letting the writing do most of the cutting. Produced and co-written with Ilya and Max Martin, the track leans into restraint, giving the song room to sit in that uneasy space between intimacy and distance.

petal is set to arrive on July 31 via Republic Records, and “hate that i made you love me” opens the campaign with a moodier, more conflicted tone than a clean pop reset. An official lyric video is out now, with a full music video expected to follow on June 1.
