RJmrLA brings the name back home on MR. LA II, a new album that picks up the weight of his 2017 MrLA title without turning it into nostalgia bait. The L.A. rapper sounds comfortable in that space: street-level, melodic when he wants to be, blunt when the writing calls for it, and still carrying the kind of West Coast bounce that made his earlier O.M.M.I.O. run stick.

The record does not try to reinvent his lane. Instead, RJ sharpens what has always worked for him — clean hooks, tightly packed verses, neighborhood detail and a delivery that can sound casual even when the lines are loaded. “Me & Mines” carries that locked-in, family-first energy, while “Big Dawg” with Mari Ruger and “Way Up” with Wallie the Sensei give the album some extra motion and visual support.

What makes MR. LA II feel right is how direct it is. RJmrLA is not chasing a new character here. He is doubling down on the one he built years ago: the local voice with enough polish for bigger rooms, but too much L.A. in the cadence to ever sound generic.
