Brent Faiyaz – Butterflies [Video]

Brent Faiyaz returns to Icon with a new official video for “butterflies.,” one of the softer cuts from his latest album.

The song catches Brent in a more openly romantic space, but still keeps that guarded edge that runs through so much of his best writing. He is not exactly abandoning the cool distance that has become part of his signature; he is letting it crack just enough for the feeling to show. Over a slow, weightless groove, “butterflies.” turns infatuation into something almost hesitant—sweet on the surface, but still aware of how fast things can get complicated.

The new visual gives the track another push after Icon arrived earlier this year, following the album’s blend of sleek R&B, quiet flexes, and late-night confessionals. “butterflies.” sits in the part of the record where Brent sounds less interested in control and more caught up in the moment, which makes it a natural choice for a video treatment.
