Tank And The Bangas – Ain’t That Deep [Video]
Tank and the Bangas keep the final chapter of their Balloon run moving with “Ain’t That Deep,” a bright, defiant cut from their new album The Last Balloon.
The New Orleans group has always been hard to pin down in the best way, and this one slips between soul, funk, R&B, hip-hop bounce, and full-band looseness without turning the mix into a puzzle.
Tarriona “Tank” Ball leads the record with the kind of presence that can make a shrug feel like a declaration. “Ain’t That Deep” is built around letting the noise fall away—not in a detached way, but with enough rhythm and color to make the release feel physical. The horns give it warmth, the beat keeps it moving, and Tank’s voice turns the title into something closer to self-protection than dismissal.
That energy fits neatly into The Last Balloon, the closing entry in the trilogy that started with Green Balloon and continued with Red Balloon. After the more spoken-word-driven The Heart, The Mind, The Soul, the band sounds fully back in motion here, carrying the album’s themes of resilience and self-reclamation into something playful, communal, and alive.
