AZ & Nas – Life’s A Bitch + So High (Live On Fallon) [Video]

AZ and Nas brought a piece of rap history back to late night with their Late Night Show performance of “Life’s a Bitch” and “So High.”

The medley starts with the Illmatic classic that first tied their names together in 1994, then moves into “So High,” a Mumu Fresh-assisted cut from AZ’s new album Doe Or Die III.

What makes the performance work is how little it tries to modernize the moment. AZ still sounds razor-clean, moving through his verse with the same smooth control that made “Life’s a Bitch” one of the defining guest appearances of its era. Nas steps in with the calm authority of someone who knows exactly what that record still means, and the transition into “So High” turns the appearance into more than a nostalgia play.

That second half matters. Doe Or Die III arrived earlier this month through Mass Appeal and Quiet Money Music, continuing the lineage of AZ’s 1995 debut while keeping the focus on grown, polished East Coast rap. Pairing “Life’s a Bitch” with “So High” lets the performance connect the origin story to the present run without overexplaining it.
