DZA and Bleek turn their “Lock In” chemistry into a tighter project with Trees Open Doors, a short EP that keeps the focus on grown-man East Coast rap, direct delivery, and production that feels cinematic without getting glossy.

The project runs through four cuts — “Blockbuster Night,” “Lock In,” “Slide,” and “Party of Five” — with Cristion D’or joining the closer. DZA brings the smoked-out Harlem cool, Bleek adds that Roc-era grit and clarity, and the two meet in a pocket that feels relaxed but never sleepy. There is no need to stretch the idea past its natural size; Trees Open Doors gets in, makes its point, and keeps the drums moving.

“Lock In” already gave the project a strong visual entry point, and inside the EP it sits right where it should: as the most immediate example of how DZA and Bleek sound together when they keep the energy stripped down and locked on the verses. “Slide” softens the edges a little, while “Party of Five” brings Cristion D’or into the mix without pulling the tape away from its core mood.
