Jimmie D – Birds Fly Yonder [Album Stream]
Jimmie D releases Birds Fly Yonder, a concise new album featuring Pay$o and Raz Fresco, with production from Nicholas Craven, EASTSIDEGZZ, Mike Shabb and Galio.
D keeps his world compact and deliberate on Birds Fly Yonder, a 10-track album that moves through dusty loops, clipped reflections and the kind of grown underground rap that rewards close listening.
The Montreal rapper has spent plenty of time working in Nicholas Craven’s orbit, but this release widens the production palette without breaking the mood. Craven is still part of the architecture, while EASTSIDEGZZ, Mike Shabb and Galio add their own textures across the album. That mix gives Birds Fly Yonder a little more movement: “All Nighter” floats with quiet soul, “Peter Thiel” cuts in rougher and more crooked, and “Corporate Prophet” keeps the writing sharp over a beat that feels both stripped-back and heavy.
Guest spots are kept tight. Pay$o joins Jimmie D on “Koi,” then returns alongside Raz Fresco for “Rudimentary,” one of the moments where the album’s low-lit chemistry feels especially locked in. At just over 24 minutes, Birds Fly Yonder does not linger longer than it needs to. Jimmie D uses the short runtime well, keeping the verses focused, the hooks minimal and the atmosphere consistent from “Humble Beginnings” to “Wasted Time.”
