PJ Morton leans fully into his gospel side on “Mercy,” a warm, heartfelt new release that arrives just days after “Mutual.”

Framed as his second solo single of 2026, the record gives this week’s rollout a different kind of energy, shifting from Saturday-night R&B to something rooted much deeper in faith.

That contrast gives “Mercy” some extra weight. Morton has said he wants to explore all of his musical spaces without limits this year, and this release makes good on that immediately. It also comes with a visualizer rather than a full video, which fits a record that does not need much beyond the voice, the feeling, and the message.
