Flying Lotus – 1983 [Audio]

Flying Lotus reaches back to the beginning with a remastered upload of “1983,” the title track from his 2006 debut album.

Instead of a random catalog drop, this one arrives as the lead look at the new “1983” reissue, which is being brought back through Brainfeeder nearly 20 years after the original release.

That context gives the track extra pull. Even in its earliest form, you can already hear the mix of beat science, jazz touch, and Brazilian rhythmic influence that the album is now being framed around again, and the remaster puts that foundation right back in focus. It feels less like nostalgia than a reminder of where so much of FlyLo’s world started.

The full “1983” reissue is set to hit streaming on April 17, with the vinyl edition following on April 18 for Record Store Day 2026.
