Benefit – The Labyrinth [EP]

Benefit returns with “The Labyrinth,” a tightly focused four-track EP that pairs the Western Massachusetts lyricist with Brooklyn producer Thvnos for a dark, fully locked-in collaboration.

Built on grimy boom-bap foundations but charged with a modern underground edge, the project finds Benefit moving through themes of growth, self-discovery, and the traps that come with trying to find your way through life, while Thvnos supplies the kind of haunting, cinematic production that keeps the whole thing tense from start to finish. What makes “The Labyrinth” hit is the chemistry—Benefit’s sharp writing and introspective delivery cut cleanly through the murk, giving the EP a sense of purpose that goes beyond just mood alone. Rather than sounding like a loose collection of tracks, this plays like a compact, immersive statement from an artist continuing to carve out his own lane with authenticity and focus. And with a new Co-Defendants project from Benefit and Profit already on the horizon, “The Labyrinth” feels less like an isolated drop than another strong step forward.
