Michael Christmas – GRIMACE [Album Stream]
Michael Christmas returns with the release of his new LP, “GRIMACE.”
“GRIMACE” moves like a quick late-night lap around the block: windows cracked, volume up, no time for long speeches—just punchy moments that hit, disappear, and dare you to run it back. It’s a tight 13-track set that clocks in at 27 minutes and plays like a deliberately compact statement: short songs, sharp turns, and zero filler.
A big part of the album’s personality comes from the chemistry with GRiMM Doza, whose rugged production gives the whole project that “recorded-in-real-time” energy—grimy enough to feel lived-in, but clean enough that Michael’s jokes, side-eyes, and quick pivots always land. You can hear how that mood was set early: “PUBLIX” dropped in early February and teased the “GRIMACE” rollout as something arriving later that month.
Once you’re in, the sequencing keeps the pace restless. “Mind Yer Bizness” and “Pronto” are all efficiency—tight hooks, tight runtimes—then the tape opens up just enough for features to add flavor without changing the mission. “Sun Die” pulls in Tony Shhnow for a slightly longer, moodier stretch, and “Make A Change” brings Cletus Strap into the mix like a jolt of electricity mid-ride.
If you want a good entry point, “Federal Digital” is one of the clearest “this is the whole aesthetic” moments—hard drums, street-level focus, and Michael sounding like he’s talking to you, not performing at you. From there, “GRIMACE” is best enjoyed like a looped playlist you don’t overthink: press play, let it run, then hit repeat and catch the lines you missed the first time.
