A$AP Rocky – Helicopter [Video]

A$AP Rocky’s new “Helicopter” video feels like a rap single dropped into a videogame cutscene—a dystopian city grid where everything’s breaking, flashing, and swarming at once.

Rooftop riots, cop-car pileups, robot chaos, SWAT teams in motion… and Rocky hovering above it all, hanging off the skids like he’s narrating the mayhem from the eye of the storm.

The visual is co-directed by Rocky and Dan Streit, and it leans hard into a stylized, rendered look (motion-capture/3D-diorama energy) that makes the whole thing feel more like a playable sequence than a traditional performance clip. One extra detail that ties it back to the rollout: the helicopter in the video is the same “D.B.D.” chopper Rocky has used as a real-world prop during the “Don’t Be Dumb” era performances/teasing.

Musically, “Helicopter” stays in that murky, dark-tinted Rocky pocket—written and produced by A$AP Rocky and Kelvin Krash, with Soufien 3000 on co-production. It’s a clean fit for what this rollout has been hinting at: big aesthetic, sharper rap focus, and zero interest in playing it safe.

“Helicopter” is the latest preview from Rocky’s long-awaited album “Don’t Be Dumb”, scheduled to land January 16. It follows last week’s “Punk Rocky” video, which leaned more surreal/cinematic in a different direction.
