Homeboy Sandman – Look Alive [Video]

Homeboy Sandman is back in that sweet spot where the writing feels conversational but the intent is razor-sharp.

“Look Alive” is a quick jolt of perspective from his project “These Titles Are Getting Pretty Silly AKA Can’t Sell 4“—a record that (true to Sandman form) sounds like it’s smiling while it’s warning you.

A big part of the charm is the beat choice: Sandman flips the instrumental from Silas Short’s “L-TRAIN,” and it gives him that nimble, jazzy pocket where he can bounce between humor and hard-earned advice without ever sounding preachy. The hook phrase is the whole thesis—stay alert, stay present, don’t drift—and he fills the verses with the kind of grounded, oddly specific lines that make his music feel like it’s coming from a real person with real-life antennae (for scams, trends, and the general nonsense in the air).

The video keeps it simple and effective: it’s credited to Joshua Reynolds (VTechVisual) and stars Vballentine, matching the track’s energy with a clean, no-frills approach that lets the lyrics stay in the driver’s seat.
