Fabolous Takes Shots At 50 Cent In New Freestyle [Video]

Leave it to New York to turn a petty real-estate argument into a rap record.

On Christmas Eve, Maino, Jim Jones, Dave East, and Fabolous opened up their “Let’s Rap About It” episode by flipping the whole “squatter” talk into a full-on “Squatter’s Rights Freestyle”—and the choice of weapon is the most disrespectful kind of respectful: they’re rapping over 50 Cent’s own instrumentals.

If you missed the spark, it wasn’t music first—it was mess. 50 Cent had been clowning the podcast crew online and escalated it with claims that they owed money for the space where the show is recorded, including an alleged landlord recording floating around with disputed numbers. So instead of arguing in captions, the guys did what rappers are supposed to do: they made it content.

The structure is clean and calculated. Maino comes out swinging over “Back Down” from “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”, setting the “I’ve got time today” tone. Jim Jones follows over “I’ll Whip Ya Head Boy” (from the “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” movie soundtrack), leaning into the “I’m not squatting, I’m stacking” flex. Dave East slides in over “A Baltimore Love Thing” off The Massacre, sounding like he’s built for this exact kind of Harlem-versus-everybody energy. Then Fabolous closes the door and double-locks it.

He picks “Window Shopper”—a song that’s already a taunt by design—and uses it like a mirror, tossing callback after callback to 50’s world while keeping the delivery calm enough to feel extra cold. The line everybody’s circling is the “we not squatters” flip, but the real damage is how he stacks references (including 50’s TV universe) into punchlines without ever sounding like he’s forcing it. It’s peak Loso: smooth voice, sharp blade, no wasted motion. Whether this turns into an actual back-and-forth or just a viral moment, the takeaway is simple: if you’re going to call a bunch of seasoned New York spitters “broke squatters,” don’t be surprised when they respond by renting out your whole discography for four verses.
