Your Old Droog – Ghostwriter [Audio]

Your Old Droog reconnects with cult hero Edan on “Ghostwriter”, a brand new single that serves as a preview of his upcoming “Yod Serling” project.

The track dropped as a digital cut on Bandcamp and across the usual streaming platforms, with Edan handling production duties front to back.

“Yod Serling” has been teased for a while as a Twilight Zone-inspired concept record built around tightly written story songs, with Edan behind the boards – an idea Droog floated years ago and is only now fully bringing to life. “Ghostwriter” feels like one of those episodes in miniature: a dense, writerly rap about authorship, credit and perspective, delivered with Droog’s usual deadpan humor and surgical internal rhymes. Even without a lyric sheet in front of you, it’s the kind of track where you catch new layers every time you run it back. On the boards, Edan leans into the psychedelic, crate-digging aesthetic he’s known for from Beauty and the Beat – dusty drums, off-kilter textures, and a sense that the whole beat is twitching just outside the frame. It’s a perfect foil for Droog’s voice: warm but slightly haunted, like you’re eavesdropping on a late-night writing session in some forgotten studio.

“Ghostwriter” also extends what’s already been a heavy 2025 for Droog, arriving hot on the heels of his “Anything Is Possible” EP, a compact five-track set with production from Khrysis, Count Bass D, J-es, Roper Williams and Kenny Segal. With “Yod Serling” now officially in sight, this single feels less like a random loosie and more like the opening narration to the next chapter – press play and step into another strange corner of Droog’s universe.
