Cookin Soul – West Coast Xmas [Mixtape]

Cookin Soul keeps his holiday streak alive with “West Coast Xmas”, a festive tape that flips classic West Coast energy into a 30-minute Christmas ride.

Originally released in December 2024 via Cookin Soul Records and Bandcamp, the project has since made its way onto the usual streaming platforms, dropping as a compact album packed with seasonal flips and Cali-minded warmth.

Across the tracklist, the Spanish producer reworks vocals and vibes from a who’s who of the coast: Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Kurupt, Ice Cube, Ice-T, B-Real, DJ Quik, The Game, Nipsey Hussle, 2Pac, ScHoolboy Q, Larry June and E-40, among others. Titles like “Blue Holidays”, “Gang Stockings”, “Xmas in the Booth”, “Xmas in Compton”, “Grinding for these Presents”, “Silent Night in LA” and “Merry Xmas” pretty much tell you what lane they’re in: boom-bap drums, G-funk glow, chopped samples and Xmas motifs woven into straight rap remixes rather than novelty records.

With West Coast Xmas, Cookin Soul extends the tradition he has built with earlier tapes like “A Tribe Called Xmas” and “Xmas Massacre” – turning the holidays into an excuse to nerd out on blends, region-specific moods and cover art, complete with digital download, merch and limited physical editions via their own store.

Throw this one on if you want your Christmas soundtrack to feel more like Crenshaw & Slauson in December than a mall playlist.
