Gorillaz feat. Yasiin Bey & Omar Souleyman – Damascus [Audio]

Gorillaz go full globe-mode on “Damascus”, their new single with Yasiin Bey and Syrian legend Omar Souleyman and the fourth preview of the upcoming album “The Mountain”, due out 27 February 2026 on the band’s own KONG imprint.

The track clocks in at just over four minutes. Written by Damon Albarn, Omar Souleyman and Yasiin Bey and recorded between Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai and New York, “Damascus” leans hard into Souleyman’s world: frantic dabke-inspired rhythms and buzzing synth lines running underneath Gorillaz’ off-kilter pop sense. Yasiin Bey threads himself through that storm with nimble verses and little quotable asides (yes, including a jab at Starbucks), giving the record a loose, celebratory cipher feel rather than a stiff “global collab” postcard.“Damascus” also deepens the picture of “The Mountain” as a truly international project – another stop on a tracklist that already runs through Sparks, IDLES, Trueno and more, cut across multiple countries and languages.

File this one under peak Gorillaz world-building: cartoon band, real stakes, and a single that sounds like a street party spilling out of a city square into the rest of the album.
